Location
Bartletts Ferry Dam
As usual, this year's fireworks will begin at dark on July 4th at the dam. The show will begin with an extra special minute of display to remember and honor our good friend, Jay Syfrett who passed away suddenly on November 23, 2014 at the age of 57. Jay lived his entire life on Lake Harding and was a unique and larger-than-life character. This extra minute is being given by Debbie Neu of Pyro Productions. Although she never met Jay in real life she had spoken with him many times through the years as he worked with her to book and schedule each year's fireworks' shows. Her heart clutched when she called him a few months back and got a message on his phone stating the number was no longer in service. Out of her love for Jay she wanted to start the fireworks' display with "Wind Bell" Fireworks Shells. These shells are designed to float in the air for a long duration (similar to floating lanterns).
We ask you to turn down your radio for a moment of silence in honor of Jay and his fun loving spirit while remembering how kid like he became each year as he looked forward to the fireworks.
Ed Bostic with Radio station 95.3 will be playing patriotic music before and during our show again this year.
